*The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), The Premier Association of Financial Professionals, is recognized globally as the standard of excellence for life insurance sales performance in the insurance and financial services industry.
Council is an annual company recognition program based on agent production from July 1 - June 30.
Nadeem Salem has been a financial advisor since 1983. He concentrates his practice on wealth preservation planning, with an emphasis on wealth accumulation, retirement distribution planning, and investment management. He works primarily with business owners, retiring professionals, and other high-net-worth individuals. Nadeem’s focus since establishing Salem Financial Group is to create Sharia based investing for a growing and affluent Muslim clientele.
Nadeem established his practice in financial services directly upon graduation from The University of Toledo in 1982. He oriented his practice around business owners during the following eight years. In 1991 he decided to enter law school, based primarily on the emphasis he had in place on estate planning for his clients. He became licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio in May 1996, although he currently does not engage in the practice of law.
Nadeem’s special interest in making sure young people have a head start in their personal, professional, and financial lives, led him to establish “The Financial Foundation for the Future” program. Nadeem is confident that this program will prepare young people for the future by allowing them to work closely with a personal coach to deal with issues important to them as well as their parents.
Nadeem graduated from the University of Toledo in 1982 and from the University of Toledo School of Law in December 1995.
Nadeem has served as president of the Greater Toledo Association of Arab Americans (GTAAA); President of the Northwest Ohio American Arab Chamber of Commerce, legal advisor for the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo and has served as a member of the board of the Toledo Area Planned Giving Council. He is a member and past chairman of the St. Charles Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. He is also the past chairman of the board of the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority. Nadeem is married to Nada and they have three children, Adam, Samantha, and Noah.
Nada and I are raising three great kids. Or should I say, they’re raising us? Samantha and Adam are the twins who are nothing alike and Noah is the baby of the family who never misses an opportunity to remind us of that.
I made the unfortunate decision years ago to be a fan of Detroit sports. Needless to say, I graduate from yelling at the T.V. to cowering in a corner when the Lions play, waiting for the disappointment, which tends to come quickly.
Being a proud American and equally proud of my Lebanese heritage, I have two favorite foods. As an American, Pizza does it (sorry Italy). One is not a true Lebanese unless you can crave a good Knafe’…Look it up.
I love all kinds of books, but I keep going to “The Prophet” by Khalil Gibran for motivation, life lessons and quotes to use in talks so that I can look smart. From a finance perspective, the best short read written and a time-tested winner is “The Richest Man In Babylon.”
Sadly, I am news junkie and watch and read and sometimes debate. When I think I overdid it, I cower in the corner watching the Detroit Lions, eating Knafe’ and reading Gibran for words of wisdom such as “don’t discuss politics and religion.” Those words aren’t there but they should be.
Kate Kelley's successful career in the financial services field began over two decades ago with UBS, and she has been with New York Life and Eagle Strategies for many years.
Kate is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Her practice is centered around providing financial guidance for both young and retiring professionals. Her focus is on life insurance, disability insurance, and long-term care planning, as well as investment planning. Kate also works closely with veterinary graduates of The Ohio State University, as well as established veterinarians nationwide.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business from Salisbury University. She stays active in the Toledo community, especially as an advocate for downtown residents and business owners and the Hub of Greater Toledo. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association (Michigan chapter), the National Association for Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), the Toledo Estate Planning Council, and a board member of the Society for Financial Service Professionals (FSP – Toledo Chapter). She currently serves on the boards of Advocating Opportunity, The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, and is the past president of the Toledo Animal Rescue. She had also served on the boards of The Toledo Warehouse District Association and The Downtown Toledo Parking Authority.
Kate resides in Toledo with her rescue pets, Willow, Maggie, and Rudy.
When I get the chance to unplug from work, one of my favorite things to do is to explore my community. I moved to Toledo from Baltimore over a decade ago and decided to set roots here. I love to immerse myself in the arts, events and (of course) diverse food offerings. Some of my favorite events include the Art Loops, Mud Hen games, and architectural walk-throughs that demonstrate what makes this small metropolis so unique. While a great glass of wine and a boat of sushi are my favorite on a Friday night, I will never turn up my nose at a great slice of pizza and a local beer! Travel and friends are a combination made in heaven, and I will take any opportunity to go somewhere exotic with a close group of great people. Another passion of mine is advocacy; I sit on the Board for the Toledo Animal Shelter and have three furry friends of my own. I also am a board member of Advocating Opportunity, one of a handful of programs in the country providing comprehensive, holistic, trauma-responsive legal and support services to persons who have experienced sex and labor trafficking.
Volunteer events and fundraisers are a wonderful way for me to meet others and do exactly what makes me happy, helping people and helping animals.
I started my career as a Life Insurance Agent in 2003. What initially incited my interest in the field was the idea that I can get compensated to help my clients get ahead financially. 17 years later I am a Licensed Financial Services Professional with a LUTCF® designation. What makes me unique is my accessibility to my clients. I am driven by the human-interaction portion of this field and I wholly believe in helping others reach their highest level of financial health and security. The comfort provided by the services I offer is what drives me to work so closely with each client. I have ample experience working with the unique challenges offered by a wide array of clients; such as those who are recent graduates of college, veterinarians, practice owners, small business owners, people approaching retirement and people in retirement. Some of my proudest accomplishments and involvements include my experience as the former President and 20 year member of Anchorage South Rotary and being a member of NAIFA for 17 years and running.
Whether it’s trudging through three feet of fresh Alaskan snow or strolling down the brick-paved streets of Hensville, I cannot spend enough time outdoors. When I’m not racking up the frequent flyer miles traveling between Alaska and Ohio, I love to spend time hiking, running, boating, and spending time with my adored rescue pup, Willow. Willow is kind-of a show off with how great she is and has got to be one of the most loyal creatures on the planet. Willow and I like to explore Toledo and Anchorage; visiting the various patios of some of the best restaurants; you could say we are self-proclaimed “foodies”. While I wear my 49ers’ red and gold proudly, I enjoy attending local sporting events as well; Go Mud Hens! My ultimate goal is to live a life that I never need a vacation from; and I can safely say that working in this field, and with the clients I have, I am doing so each and every day.
Jessica Perry is the newest addition to the Salem Financial Group office, joining our team in late October 2019. She works as an administrative assistant, and ensures that our clients receive the best service possible. Jessi received both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees through the University of Toledo. Prior to her employment at Salem Financial, Jessica worked as a Recreation Therapist where she would provide animal-assisted therapy to children and adults in local hospitals.
Meet Jessi! In her spare time, Jessi enjoys walking her dog, Rawlings, and hanging out by the pool and soaking up whatever Ohio sunshine she can! Her favorite binge-worthy series of all time is Golden Girls; a real classic in her eyes, and it pairs perfectly with a big bowl of popcorn and a bag of Peanut M & Ms. Her weekly ritual is to get tacos and margaritas with family and friends at their favorite local spot. Jessi would love to travel to Croatia one day and explore the Mediterranean.
Laura Harrison obtained her Financial Advisor license in 2020 after passing the Series 7, 66, and SIE exams. She joins Salem Financial Group as the Administrative Coordinator where she will assist in the servicing of client accounts and inquiries. Laura works in conjunction with the Director of Operations to complete office-wide initiatives and community outreach activities on behalf of the firm.
During the warmer months, Laura enjoys kayaking, golf, disc golf, and taking long walks with her partner, John, and dog, Polo. She also loves reading, sewing, and learning about different types of bourbons. In 2021, Laura visited several distilleries on the Bourbon Trail in Louisville with her best friend, Carrie. She proudly cheers for her son, Tanner, at his football games and orchestra performances where he plays the stand-up bass for Arbor Hills Junior High.
